The Hospital continued to invest in the health and well-being of its workforce, with robust recruitment and retention efforts focused on enhancing employee engagement as well as offering competitive compensation and benefits. Nearly 80 percent of YNHH employees took our annual engagement survey, and YNHH scored above national benchmarks in job security, pay, helpful performance review, recognition and availability of new technology. YNHH's percentile ranking when compared to other academic medical centers jumped an impressive 15 points.

The hospital introduced new monthly Resident and Nurse Collaboration awards to recognize nurses and physicians-in-training who demonstrate teamwork and exemplify the collaborative spirit critical to patient care.

YNHH inducted 102 employees into the Quarter Century Club and hospital volunteers donated about 170,000 hours of service in 2017.

Yale New Haven Hospital continued to broaden patient, employee and supplier diversity and inclusion efforts and several organizations affirmed YNHH’s status as an employer of choice, including Forbes Magazine, the Best Workplaces for Commuters program and the National Association for Female Executives.

The livingwell CARES care coordination program, which supports employees living with or at risk for chronic health conditions, enrolled 845 employees to date. In addition, 4,646 YNHH employees participated in the on-site health screenings for the Know Your Numbers Plus program, which offers a $500 credit towards FY 2017 medical premiums, for a YNHH participation rate of 83 percent.
